Red Wings will launch a direct "Mineralniye Vody–Urumqi (China)" flight in May or June this year, as reported by Roman Chuev, the General Director of the Mineralniye Vody International Airport.

The flight will take place one per week using a 180-seat TU-204 aircraft. Each flight will take 4 hours 20 minutes. "This flight is the first step to encourage us to launch regular flights. We have reached a preliminary agreement with China Southern Airlines that should this project succeed, we will establish a direct flight connection with Urumqi on a regular basis", he emphasized.

The agreement that triggered work on launching direct charter flights between Mineralniye Vody and Urumqi was executed between representatives of the Mineralniye Vody Airport, LLC Rost tour operator and the North Caucasian Federal District Tourism Coordination Council in December of the previous year. The first flight was expected to take place in May 2016.

Red Wings airline company is Russia's major operator of TU-204 line aircrafts. Its aircraft park includes 5,000 Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircrafts. The airline company is a potential customer to order TU-204SM, a brand new aircraft model manufactured in Ulyanovsk.
