Toyota's Saint-Petersburg Plant was first to start its conveyor up after the New Year holidays

Saint-Petersburg-based automotive plant owned by Toyota, a Japanese concern, started its conveyor after the New Year holidays on the 10th of January. The plant was the first to proceed to work after the holiday season. The city's other automotive enterprises say they will add another several days to their holidays during which their conveyors will be temporarily idle. E.g. Nissan's facility will be idle from the 31st of December through the 15th of January with Hyundai's plant standing idle from the 1st through the 20th of January. In particular, Hyundai's representatives explained that their plant would be completing the reconfiguration of its equipment to launch the production of Creta, a new model of compact sport utility vehicles. Ford's plant in Vsevolzhsk, Leningrad Region, will stand idle until the 15th of January.

Toyota's plant manufactures Toyota Camry and is expected to launch the production of the second version of Toyota RAV4 in 2016. For this purpose, the facility plans to create approximately 800 workplaces. The facility's production capacity is 100 thousand vehicles per annum and it is operated by two shifts of 1,850 workers.
