IKEA is ready to invest in Moscow subway construction

IKEA intends to partially subsidize a construction of subway station in Kommunarka, New Moscow, near the shopping center MEGA Teply Stan, as announced Armin Michaely, General Director of IKEA Centers Russia. “It is very important for us to be as close to transport hub as possible, and we want to subsidize its construction.


IKEA is ready to invest in Moscow subway construction


IKEA intends to partially subsidize a construction of subway station in Kommunarka, New Moscow, near the shopping center MEGA Teply Stan, as announced Armin Michaely, General Director of IKEA Centers Russia. “It is very important for us to be as close to transport hub as possible, and we want to subsidize its construction. But we also would like other concerned parties to participate in the realization of the project”.


IKEA plans to invest 50 billion rubles in the development of road and social infrastructure of Moscow and to expand its business in the region by 2020. In particular, IKEA intends to subsidize the construction of MKAD transport junctions near MEGA shopping centers and to partially subsidize the construction of subway station Chelobityevo in Mytishchy, where it plans to build a new shopping center by 2018. The announced volume of investment in subway station construction is 3 billion rubles. IKEA also has intended to invest 1 billion rubles in the construction of new transport junction at the intersection of MKAD and Verchnie Polya Street near MEGA Belaya Dacha.


As for transport infrastructure of Moscow region, IKEA plans to invest 8-9 billion rubles in the construction of Chelobityevo subway station and transport junction in Mytishchy. The construction of the complex will cost about 20 billion rubles, and another 1 billion rubles will be invested in the development of surrounding area, including park construction and church restoration. At the moment IKEA has three stores in Moscow region: near Teply Stan subway station, in Belaya Dacha and in Khimki. All three stores are integrated in MEGA shopping centers.
