Mexican Nemak plans to launch its first Russian plant in Ulyanovsk

Mexican company Nemak specializing in production of automotive components will open a plant in Ulyanovsk. The company has invested in this promising project about 2,2 billion rubles and intends to target regional auto manufacturer UAZ and Volkswagen Group.

Mexican company Nemak specializing in production of automotive components will open a plant in Ulyanovsk. The company has invested in this promising project about 2,2 billion rubles and intends to target regional auto manufacturer UAZ and Volkswagen Group. The plant will manufacture cylinder heads and engine blokes for automobiles.


The manufacture is located on a 18,6 ha lot in industrial park Zavolzhye. The plant will produce about 600 thousand aluminum parts a year and employ about 300 workers.


Ulyanovsk plant is the first plant of Nemak in Russia. Nemak is a part of Mexican industrial conglomerate Alfa specializing in production of cylinder heads, engine blokes, gear-box casings and other auto components. The company has 34 plants in Northern and Southern America, Europe, Asia. Nemak customers are 42 world’s leading auto manufacturers. At year-end 2013, Nemak’s turnover reached $4,4 billion.
