Finnish company “HZPC Sadokas”, a world leader in the marketing of seed potatoes, plans to expand its production in Russia and considers Pskov region as a potential area for seed potato breeding. The vice governor of Pskov region Sergey Pernikov has promised an extensive support in the realization of this project and indicated that in the nearest time executive authorities would find several land plots, suited for the production.

Jaakko Rahko, the managing director of “HZPC Sadokas”, mentioned that the company cultivated a pilot batch of seed potatoes on the land plots of the peasant farm enterprise “Vityaz” in Pechercky district. The high quality of the pilot batch made them to consider Pskov region as one of the most preferable territories for production location. The Finns intend to seed about 2 thousand ha and to invest from 4 to 7 mln euro. Jaakko Rahko indicated that the company would supply seed potatoes, cultivated in Pskov region, to Russian market entirely.

At the present time “HZPC Sadokas” has representatives in 13 countries.
